2-day Workshop on Elementary Number Theory for rising school seniors interested in Mathematics

Published by Ganit Charcha

This workshop is targeted for students of Class IX - XII and aim to cover the following areas.
Integers, Fractions and Decimals
Multiples, Divisors and Prime Numbers
Divisibility, Euclidean Algorithm
Modular Arithmetic
Miscellaneous Challenge Problems

Basic motivation of the workshop is to help students clear some of the interesting areas associated with the above topics. Lectures on the above topics will be delivered by a former student of of ISI, Kolkata and IIT, Kharagpur. Selected topics may also be covered by experts in this area who are currently associated with ISI, Kolkata. Students will also be challenged by interesting problems from this area and our experts will guide them to figure out solutions of their own. Through this workshop, students will also be exposed to the art of mathematical problem solving. They will also be given opportunities to help them learn how to collaborate in order to solve a mathematical problem.

Key Takeaways
Increased understanding on the above topics of elementary number theory. Enhanced confidence in attacking problems (at RMO level) from this area. Participants will be given a kit comprised of lecture notes prepared by our experts, 3 worksheets of different challenge problems to help them practice after they successfully complete the workshop.

Every applicant should be conversant with the basics of the first three areas. Every applicant should be student of Class IX - XII.
